Are you looking for a fun and inexpensive activity to do this fall?
Then treat yourself and your loved ones to an apple picking day!
In this post I’ll share with you 4 reasons why you should go apple picking too!
Why You Need to Go Apple Picking this Fall
1. Being in nature is good for your well-being.
Autumn is a magical season to enjoy.
In Montréal, for instance, the weather is perfect. It’s not too hot and not too cold (yes, it’s the Goldilocks of seasons). And the landscapes are gorgeous with the leaves so full of colour.
That said, apple picking is one of the best ways to enjoy this time. Especially when days are about to get shorter and cold.
Just imagine taking a relaxing stroll among the trees while you delight all your senses…
…you’ll breathe the fresh air, hear, see, touch and taste the nature.
You’ll feel renewed!
2. You can Bond with your loved ones.
Whether you go with your family, friends, with your other half on a romantic date or by yourself, apple picking is something everyone will enjoy.
Even my teens love it because they can freely walk around, chat and relax after a stressful week at school.
That said, it’s a great opportunity to reconnect with each other.
3. You can Have fun at a low price.
Depending on the orchard, you’ll need to pay for the admission and the number of bags you’ll fill with fresh apples.
But overall, it’s an inexpensive activity.
In my case, I love going to the St. Marc Orchard (Quebec). It’s a charming place where the access is free. More details below.
4. You’ll bring home a healthy snack.
Apples are by excellence one of the healthiest foods. They’re a good source of fibre, vitamin C and Phytochemicals, which in turn can give you great benefits for your health.
According to Harvard’s School of Health, they can help prevent constipation and lower “bad” cholesterol. Also prevent chronic diseases like certain cancers and bowel disorders.
So. Much. Goodness. 🍎
On the other hand, you can enjoy apples in multiple ways like:
• in slices with peanut butter;
• in a fruit salad;
• in a scrumptious apple pie or turnovers;
• in a healthy apple oatmeal and much more!
My favourite Orchard in Montréal.
If you’re visiting this area, you’ll find there are many orchards you can go to.
The St. Marc Orchard is my favourite one. It’s small but ultra-charming.
It’s located at the beautiful region of Saint Marc sur Richelieu, at 40 min. from Montreal City. You’ll love the ride, especially if you go when the leaves change their colours.
At their shop, you can buy products like cider, pies or their scrumptious apple turnovers. If you’re buying the latter, make sure to get there early because they’re sold out fast.
Get all the details on their website.
Quick disclaimer: I wasn’t paid to mention this place, I just like it and I’m happy to recommend it.
